A short link and QR code for your wedding website on The Knot

The Knot gives you a wedding website at theknot.com/us/ followed by your names, often with a month and year. Here's how to get it onto your invitations in a form guests can type, and why a link you control helps if anything changes.

The Knot addresses are long

Addresses on The Knot often include both full names and the wedding date, such as theknot.com/us/sam-smith-and-alex-jones-jun-2027. That's a lot for a guest to type from a card. A short link replaces it with just your names.

No QR code from the website dashboard

The Knot's help centre says it can't generate a QR code for your website for you to share; codes come with stationery ordered from The Knot. Every short link from us comes with a free QR code, as a print-ready SVG and a PNG, that you can give to any printer.

Password protection

The Knot lets you password-protect your website in its privacy settings. Guests who follow your short link then see The Knot's password page, so give them the password too.

Custom domains

The Knot sells custom domains as a yearly add-on that has to be renewed by hand. A short link is an alternative that you can point at a different site at any time.

Setting it up

  1. Copy your The Knot website address, and check it opens in a private browser window.
  2. On our home page, choose your short link, such as thisisourwedding.co.uk/samandalex, and paste your The Knot address into "Where it should go".
  3. Pay £2.99 a month, monthly or up front. Your link and its QR code are ready straight away.
  4. Print the link and the SVG QR code on your stationery. Links to The Knot go straight through for guests.
